The Pin Oak, Quercus palustris, is a beautiful deciduous shade tree. It grows straight and has very few natural problems. Pin Oak is an excellent choice to create shade in the yard. It attracts birds and other wildlife. It is also ideal for planting along a drive or a street.

- Full sun is ideal for this tree. It should get at least 6 hours of direct, unfiltered sunlight each day.
Soil Requirements
- Acidic, loamy, moist, rich, sandy, well-drained, wet and clay soils. It can tolerate wet conditions, including moderate flooding
