The Littleleaf Linden (Tilia cordata) is a great selection for lawns, street, or shade tree.  It is distinctly pyramidal in youth becoming more rounded with age.  Densely branched and foliaged, it makes an ideal landscape tree.  The 1 1/2 – 3 inch long dark green leaves turn yellow in fall.  Yellowish fragrant flowers occur in June.  Tolerates heavy pruning and can be grown as a hedge.
