Bald Cypress (Taxodium distichum) is a deciduous conifer with a columnar to pyramidal form and feather-like branches.  The rich green foliage with looks much like and evergreen turns rusty oranges to brown in the fall before falling off to expose the gray-brown bark which sparks winter interest.

  • 50-70 ft high and 20-30 ft wide.

Sun Preference

  • Full sun to partial shade

Soil Requirements

  • Easily grown in average, medium to wet, moisture retentive but reasonably well-drained soils. Prefers moist, acidic, sandy soils, but tolerates a wide range of soil conditions ranging from somewhat dry soils to wet soils in standing water.
