Yellowwood, Cladrastis kentukea, is a native tree to the Eastern United States. Usually low branching with a broad-rounded crown of delicate branches. The older branches and trunk are smooth and gray. The leaves are a rich pea green and turn yellow to gold brown in fall. Fragrant, creamy flowers occur in pendulous, 8-14 inch long panicles appear in older trees and arrive in May and June.
