Florida Dogwood, Cornus florida, is a small deciduous flowering tree native to the Eastern United States.  White and pink flowers are common on this tree depending on the cultivar and appear in April.  Normally a low branched tree with a rounded flat topped form and strong horizontal, tiered branching.  The dark green leaves during summer turn an excellent reddish-purple color on fall.  Small red fruits appear in September & October.  Older bark can develop an alligator like appearance.
